Patek Philippe 2472R; bold polished squarish shaped case with fluted ribbed sides and bold straight lugs measuring 27 x 37mm.  The dial has matching hour markers and hands.  The watch is fitted with an 10"-200 caliber 18-jewel movement # 957993; case # 512958.  The case is manufactured by the master case maker George Crosier with stamp 5.  The watch is  accompanied with an extract from the archives confirming its date of manufacture and further sale.  A choice of straps are available.

Essay:  2472 launched in 1950 and was made in yellow and pink gold for a few years.   Patek Philippe ceased production of this model around 1953. This is one of the first large shape watches of a successful series following the war.  Other similar references were  2440, 2441, 2442, 2443, 2471. The watch dial is distinguished by its matching hour markers which match the ribbed case.  It is considered one of the rarest shape watches and an iconic piece amongst collectors. Because of its large size it can bear the round caliber 10”-200.
