In 2021, Seiko introduced the all-new Speedtimer series, a solar-powered chronograph sport watch that inherits the classic and sporty design of the Seiko "1969 Speed Timer" with curved sapphire glass. The dial on the watch has a sand-grained pattern that suppresses light reflection, achieving high visibility unique to full-scale sports watches—bringing this classy look sport's watch to an even higher standard.

In late 2022, "The Black Series" of the Seiko Prospex line for the first time dressed in the very popular new Speedtimer Solar Chronograph, this is the SSC917 / SBDL103. One of the special features of this SSC917 / SBDL103 is the "Green Lumibright Pro" being used for Lumibright. Compared to conventional Lumibrite, this Lumibrite exhibits higher brightness and longer afterglow time.
